Le Chien, Seddon

There's quite a mural at Le Chien, 5 Gamon Street, Seddon, Tel +61 3 9362 7333. A young lady-comrade down on all fours, impersonating a dog, presumably. Up in the corner, a scowling posh-spice look-alike declares: "I wanna be your dog". It's all very colourful and edgy.

But was it a dog's breakfast? Certainly not. Quite the opposite. My scrambled eggs were the dog's bollocks. Served up on some nice sourdough, with smoked bacon, and some perfectly ripe avocado. It would have been a prize-winning poodle, but for a couple of mongrel sausages. I tried smothering them in HP sauce, but they still tasted funny. Maybe the black pudding would have been a better option?

The vego crowd might prefer "lots of avocado and tomato" on toast (with or without goat's cheese), Bircher muesli with rhubarb and pear compote, or plain old Promite on toast.

Hummmm... Yawmee!

It looks so great I'm starving right now (it's 1:20 AM in Spain right now, but anyway) :-)

Found your blog on Blogger's Blogs of Note and I decided to make a visit (and also leave a comment).

Have fun and kind regards from Spain,

Paquito.

I am a huge breakfast girl. Le Chien has the best breakfast in the west by far. I agree, the eggs are the dogs bollocks. But you are wrong on the sausages. They kick butt. Maybe your not a fan of the good old Cumberland sausage. They do taste different than you average snag. By the way, it's Iggy Pop on the mural. Le Chien is the dogs bollocks

Good but not great....I think they're a bit overrated.
Service was ok but could be dramatically improved.
Good breakfast, ok coffee and good vibe.

Regarding the service, I worked there a while back & considering it's only $15 an hour & you don't get any breaks in your mega busy slightly understaffed 8 hour shift & then a lousy 10 minutes to eat your lunch at 5pm in the arvo, the service is ok. So service could be dramatically improved if reasonable breaks & reasonable pay were implemented so that we have a greater tolerance to serving a...holes like you. :-)

I agree, great food. I worked there recently too. I agree again, crap money, crap (or non existent breaks) and you get your balls busted for 8 hrs solid. Good to work a popular cafe, but share the wealth man (yes i've got a pretty good idea what they bring in, and its far from peanuts), glad i left.
