Les Deux Magots, Paris

In England, they give their pubs strange names like "The Slug and Lettuce" and "The Fighting Cocks", so you could be forgiven for thinking that "Les Deux Magots" was named after a couple of flesh eating grubs. But it turns out that a "Magot" is some kind of Chinese statue. And "Les Deux Magots" is the name of a very famous "literary" cafe at 6 place Saint Germain des Prés, 75006 Paris, Tel +33 1 45 48 55 25.

    Get back here!!!

I've been visiting here daily over the past month, to no avail.

When you get back it is time you headed north of the river and spent some time in Brunswick (El Mirage, A Minor Place, Poached, etc).

This is called a croque-madame, a typical french dish to order in parisian bistros.
It is basically just bread with ham and cheese (gruyère) and a fried egg on top...
    I'm glad you're back in Melbourne :)

Phew!!! Getting worried there...thought you might have succumbed to cholesterol due to your arduous intake of bacon and eggs....good to see this is not the case.

What a relief you are back, I feel like I have been on some b-fast detox, missing the latest "egg" & "coffee" hot spots. Would have gone for the croissants, hot chocolate and boiled egg at Les Deux Magots, as I did last year, more appealing, although it did cost around $40!!!!

Looking forward to more reviews & pics from Europe, the Wolseley by any chance?

I concur...welcome back! I'm glad you weren't the victim of a 'hit' by a vengeful breakfasteur. But I'm even more glad that I can breakfast vicariously again (see Nicole Richie post for context...)

Ah Les Deux Magots, St Germain...the early stomping gounds of Satre, de Beauvoir and Hemingway. Croque Madame and a glass of Pernod?

    Splendid.

I love this blog. I love it's light, whimsical humour. I love taking seriously something that's not so important, that's left no-one out of sorts. Thank you :)
