Street Eggs

There's something about the smell of fried bacon and burning fat. It makes me hungry. So there was no resisting the call of the egg & bacon sandwich as we wandered the streets of Bright this weekend. In fact, I had two. It was a fry-off between Jack's BBQ and the local Rotary club.

For 5 bucks, Jack's BBQ served up a tasty mix of fried egg, crispy bacon and a big fat sausage, sandwiched between a couple of squares of fluffy white bread. I think it was meant to have some fried onion too, but they forgot. Never mind. It was very good.

For 4 bucks, Rotary trumped Jack's with a fresh white roll filled with crispy bacon and a just-soft fried egg (a better quality egg, too). More satisfying than a Snickers.

Glad to see you're supporting the charred remains of the High Country rural economy!

The pics remind me of our delicious monthly e&b sarnie gobbled down at the St.Kilda Farmers Market.

Ah ... sinking my teeth into wholemeal bread and free range crispy bacon until I ride the wave of rich, gooey, bright orange yolks, care of Swampy from Marsh's Family Egg Farm ...mmmarvelous!

Prepared by volunteers, the proceeds go to charity, and you get to ogle 'celeb'/eye candy Robert Taylor of 'Ballykissangel' sweating over a hot BBQ all morning. Chow down!

    Be hungry, not crazy.
Good and tasty food is not necessary so fat

  4. The sandwich on the fresh white roll looks more appetizing. Clearly the better choice.

If I get my nose close enough to the screen I think I could smell the fantabulous smell of the bacon/egg fat mixed together.

    Nmnmmmm...

  8. you are so right--the smell of frying bacon does something to me too. although I know it's not healthy(and maybe that's why it probably smells and taste so good) I cannot resist eating it once I've smelt it
